Born to a human mother and elven father, Mylo wanted to be a wizard and adventurer, but failed to pass the Mage’s Guild entrance exam due to a lack of basic magical talent. Crushed, he eventually settled into a menial assistant position at a local magic emporium.
A few months ago, while making deliveries, he found a hastily-wrapped package in his load with no address except “Mage’s Guild”. Unsure about where exactly to deliver it, he decided to open it to see if the contents had more information. Once open, Mylo saw that all that was in the package was a slowly pulsing, green crystal. When he touched it, the crystal glowed once, then suddenly darted for his chest, where it was absorbed into his body. Panicking, Mylo rushed to the Mage’s Guild, thinking he could find who the crystal was intended for, and they could get it out of him. When he arrived at the main hall, however, he began glowing with the same pulsing, green light that had come from the crystal. The next thing he remembered was lying in the smoldering ruins of the main hall of the Mage’s Guild; he had been the center of a massive explosion, but was completely untouched. Despite a lengthy investigation, he was eventually cleared, as the authorities found that he had no trace of magical training or ability and he didn’t tell anybody about the crystal, in an effort to protect himself.
Mylo attempted to move on with his life, but as the days wore on, he began to have incidents. A burst of flame here, a bolt of ice there. Eventually, he realized that the crystal had tapped him into some kind of wild magic, which was growing. While he couldn’t always control it, he began to train himself at home, until he had some modicum of ability. His first attempt involved entering himself in one of the weekly wizard’s duel’s held in the city, where a flare-up in his spell caused him to nearly burn the other wizard to a cinder. With rumors beginning to circulate about his strange powers, he decided perhaps now was a good time to begin his adventuring career outside of the city…
